The stallion whinnied and tossed his head, hopping on his back legs. "Easy boy, you've done this a million times before," she told her black horse as she led him out to the course. She put her vest on and checked her helmet before swinging up onto Thomas, her Thoroughbred stallion. The horse snorted and started trotting before his rider brought him back down to a walk. "Calm down, hun!" she said with a smile, suprised at his up-tight attitude.
Once she got him cantering, Thomas was much better. He just wanted to get moving! They practiced some flying lead changes before Amber let him off the bridle a bit, still keeping his haunches under him. At a hand-gallop, they headed for a practice fence. It was a 2'9" brush box, and he took it with ease and they circled and took it again. Amber sighed, seeing how quiet her farm was. She didn't mind the peace, but some traffic would be welcome as well.

Malory was late for work, so she felt so bad. She drove up in the drive way, she also broung her horses to board them here. She could not find any other place to board them at. She wished she could meet a guy one day and just fall in love with them. But for know she had more things to worry about. The reason why she late, she had to load up the horses.
Once she got to the stable yard she tried to find the owner, she already filled out the forum, so she could board her horses here. She wounder what she needed to do today. She need to clean stalls and paddocks. Once she was all done, she was going on a hack..But unless the owner needed her.

The girl heard rumbling in the driveway, and it seemed like it was coming from a truck and trailer. She brought Thomas down to a trot and they headed over to the main barn. It was Malory, one of her employees, and it seemed she had two horses. Maybe they would be Amber's first boarders! Everyone went running to Shadow Mountain. It was a good stable, but too large for Amber's taste. "Hey Malory! I see you've brought your horses," she said and halted her black horse. The girl glanced at her watch, seeing it was a little after when the other girl was supposed to get to Three Crest. Because she was always late herself, Amber never really cared unless they didn't show up at all.
She patted Thomas's neck, and she could tell he wanted to start the course. "I'm schooling on the cross country course, do you want to come along?" she asked. As far as she remembered, at least one of Malory's horses was trained in the discipline.

Malory smiled and said Yeah, I broung my horses, is it alright if I bored them here." She looked at her and smiled. She looked at the back of the trailer. Big Brown stood in the trailer and wanted out really badly. So she walked over there and opened the trailer door and out came Majic, she was in really bad shape. Malory bought her to help her out, she needed lots a help and malory was going to help her out. She then unloaded big brown. He snorted and nickered.
Malory smiled and took them to a paddock and siad"I would, its just, I don't have a horse for it and im not that great of a rider to do that." It was true, malory wasn't the greatest riders at all. She wanted to be, but needed to take lots of time.

She listened, breathing a little hard after the couple jumps they took, to what her friend was saying. "Yea, sure! Big Brown will be in the boarder's barn, but I'll have to think about Majic. She'll probably end up in the re-hab barn, but I'll have to think it over," she laughed. It confused her with horses like that, because they were in re-hab but were boarded... It made her think too much, so she always asked other friends about it. Both of Malory's horses looked like they would do well in whatever she chose. Big Brown looked so powerful... like a gentle gian.
"Oh, you're a great rider!" she said with an encouraging smile. Thinking for a moment, she found the solution. "Here, let me get over a few more jumps, and once Thomas is all nice and warmed up and hopefully settled down, I'll let you take him over a few of the lower ones," she said. With that, she put her feet back in the stirrups and gathered her black laced reins up into her gloved hands. With a nudge in the side, Thomas was cantering towards a flower box that deserved some respect to get over it nicely.
Amber bent into a two-point position, counting down the strides to her ideal take-off point. Then with a semi-ok automatic release, the black horse soared over the 3'3" fence with a few inches to spare. He was pretty energetic, so Amber took him to a water combination. They jumped a smallish log down a hill into some water that was only a foot deep, the rider leaning back appropriately. Then they headed up a hill, over a crate-looking jump, down a smaller hill and off a shelf. That had tired Thomas out a little, so they headed for a vertical stone wall that was really high at 3' 10". Amber urged the horse on, still keeping him balanced and using his hind end, until they were over the fence and headed back to Malory and her trailer. "Whaddya say?" she asked with a smile.

Malory smiled and said" I wouldn't mine learning I guess...I don't know how to jump, but I can try." She didn't mind trying something new, but it was worth the shot of trying. She smiled and watched her ride around the course. They looked so good together. She wished she could get Big Brown to do that.
Malory walked away and went to go get big brown. Brown snorted and walked with her. He could do it also, he knew he could, and he could trust Malory and she would never hurt him . Malory smiled and grabbed her English saddle and helmet and walked to amber and said" I will ride big brown over the small jumps" She smiled and looked at amber. They were more experienced than they where and well..she was going to let big brown win!
Malory got brown into a trot with a little nudge, she smiled at brown and patted him. They been working. She smiled and got him warmed up and got him into a canter. His canter was so smooth and it was easy to ride to. Malory taught herself to jump, but she didn't want anyone to know. She keeped brown moving forward and then went over the 2ft jump with easy. Malory two-point position was great. She smiled and knew they were doing great. She keeped on going over the 2ft jumps with a easy and both looking wonderful!
Malory pulled him to a walk and looked at amber and smiled and said" So am I good? Or do I suck?"She wanted to know so she could work on things. She then petted big brown and said" Boy, I didn't know you could jump, but you surprised me." She was so happy for brown. She just could not wait to do more jumping with him.

She smiled at Malory. Big Brown looked like he could do it, but not much or he would strain his legs. "All right, give it a go," she said and gestured vaguely out to the looming course ahead. Mean while, she dropped the reins onto Thomas's black withers and put her legs on the knee rolls, slouching a little as she watched the inexperienced pair warm-up.
Amber watched, fairly impressed, as Malory and Big Brown took a couple of the smaller jumps. "Not bad! You can shorten your reins up a bit and get a bit more speed, but all the basics are right there," she said with a tone of encouragement. "Don't do too much; being a draft means he wasn't built for jumping, but he looks in great shape," she said, just watching out for the horse's safety. She gathered up her reins, ready to do a smaller course within the full-sized one.
Amber urged Thomas into a canter, and he willingly abided by her command. The big black gelding was attentive as they headed for a flower basket jump that was re-created after the one in the Lexington Horse Park. It was a little smaller, though. She straightened their path out, controlled her horse's pace, and let him do the rest. The gelding's nostrils flared as he picked himself up successfully over the fence and onto the ditch leap. They went down a small hill, jumped a foot and a half wide ditch, and headed up another small hill to a raised log. Amber let the reins slide carefully between her fingers, keeping Thomas's freedom of moving his head available. She leaned back then forward, keeping his balance centered, and they completed the course with ease. "That's a good boy, Thomas," she praised and patted her horse's rather sweaty neck.
