The sun was just breaking over the horizon as the young woman and her horse came trotting down the wide path. Her hair was flowing wildly, shoulders esposed in the lilac colored cami she was wearing, along with some black breeches. The horse she rode had a navy blue halter on with a matching lead rope. He snorted happily as he picked his way among the small rocks and sticks. "Whoa, boy," Amber said to her stallion and sat deeply, squeezing with her thighs. He halted accordingly, and the girl dropped the lead rope onto his withers and they walked on.
The dew clung to Thomas's fetlocks as they meandered off the path a little bit into the grass. The sun was now half way up above the eastern horizon in a warm, pink and orange glow. Amber loved mornings the most, and it seemed like her Thoroughbred did too. He bent his head to take a mouthful of juicy grass before walking again.

Max stepped out of his car and set his new puppy down beside him. Wearing only a pair of shorts and running sneakers he started jogging off, the puppy following at his heels barking, best he could, at his new owner. King hush. Max said though he and the puppy knew he didn't really mean it.
Normally Max would have been on his own stallion, taking him out for a ride and been working on Treason's extended walk or trot just to get the horse moving and still let him have a bit of fun. Thinking of the bay stallion he sighed and pushed himself into a bit of a faster pace. He hated that Treason was hurt, even if it was only for another day or two.
Max hadn't run in months yet he still had the muscles he earned from riding horses and working in a barn. Muscular arms and a well defined six-pack though it wasn't weird to look at defined. He, like any good horse rider, had extremely strong legs though some would claim those came from playing soccer, and kicking butt at it too.
He wasn't aware of the rider and her horse until King rushed forwards barking and wagging his tiny tail. King! He said stopping suddenly. C`mer boy! C`mer. He said and reached down scooping up the puppy and sractching behind his ears in reward.
Sorry about that. He doesn't know a thing about horses yet. Max said turning his blue eyes up to the girl and her horse. I'm Max, he's King. Feel free to yell about my idiocy for not paying any attention. He said and flashed the girl a boyish smile.

Thomas picked his head from the grass he was so contently eating. At first, the girl was almost clued out, until she too heard the barking of a dog. She halted her mount and turned around to see a puppy and a man running. She smiled and waved warmly, always eager to make new friends. And apparently, the puppy wanted to make friends with Thomas as he dashed over to him and started barking and sniffing the stallion. Thomas was glad for the attention and sniffed back, nudging the dog's shoulders gently. Amber laughed, swinging her legs slightly on the black horse's sides.
She pulled an exceptionally flying strand of hair behind her ear, listening to the guy's words. "Oh it's no problem, I've been there..." she said, thinking of her collie back home. "I'm Amber, nice to meet you. Oh, really it's fine," she said and swung down from Thomas. "Nice to meet you too, King," she said and reached a hand to pet the hyper, but very cute, puppy. "This is Thomas," she said, giving her black stallion a pat. "Do you ride?" she said. By saying "He knows nothing about horses yet" she figured he did, but just wanted to make sure.

Yep. I own two horses though one is crazy and my main stallion got injured the other day and is resting up for the next few days. He said and glanced over the stallion. Nice horse. He said while avoiding having his face licked by the puppy. Knock it off you mutt. He said fondly and rubbed the puppy's head gently making his ears flop.
Calm horse. Both my stallions would probably be trying to kill the puppy, or take off. Of course Treason does it to be funny and Satan, he'd just plain old do it. He said and flashed her another boyish grin. He'd been riding since he was a baby and showing since he was a kid. Both of his parents being amazing riders, his mother almost jumping in the Olympics before a fall ruined her dreams and left her unable to ride most of the time.

She smiled and nodded. "That's too bad, I hope he heals up soon," she said. It was never good to hear horses were injured, even if the injuries were minor. But he didn't seem too concerned, so she decided not to dwell on it for long. "Thanks, I'm lucky to have him," she said, fixing his mane rather absently. She added, "He's a son of J.O. Tobin, if you've ever heard of him." Amber was pretty proud of that, but was careful not to brag or boast. She giggled at the puppy's failing attempts to lick Max's face. The dog was adorable!
She nodded, saying, "Yea, he's pretty unflappable. Get turkey or deer by him though, and you're in for a ride!" He was good with all animals, but he'd been used as a hunting horse and was not fond of those animals at all. He wasn't naughty, he just didn't want anything to do with them. Noticing Max's grin, she thought it was pretty stunning. She wasn't one to fall for guys just ono looks, but he was fairly cute. Shrugging it off, she went on to talk about riding again. "Where do you keep your horses?" she asked, wondering if he had is own stable or boarded with Aly. In fact, she thought she remembered seeing his name on a stall card when she was working.

Shadow Mountain Rescue. I'm the Assistant trainer on the farm so I'm boarding my horses to save time. He said pulling a small leash out of his pocket and clipping it onto the puppy's collar before sitting him down. What about you? He asked crouching down and bracing himself on his heels, looking up at her.
Treason didn't have stunning lines but they weren't half bad. The stallion could probably end up being the best horse listed in the lines, that was Max's dream for the horse anyways. He wanted the horse to be amazing and for people to want his horse. Not that some people didn't ask about him just purely because of his looks. The horse stood just over sixteen hands. Slender but well fed, muscular with inteligent looking dark brown eyes. A bay-dun mixture. Light brown coat that almost counted as a dun but it was just brown enough to be considered bay, or it had been when the stallion was a foal.
Max watched King attempting to catch one bug or another, the little puppy tripping over his paws every now and then which was quite amusing.

She nodded and said, "Yea, I work there as a manager and groom." Thomas started nudging her, and Amber smiled and pushed his head gently away as Max asked a question. The stallion resumed eating as the girl spoke. "I have my own place, Three Crest Rescue Farm," she said casually. Not many knew the name, but she wasn't out there to get famous, just to help the horses that came to her. She had a good friendship with Aly, and wasn't very competitive.
At a loss for words, she patted Thomas's shoulder. "What disciplines do you ride in?" she said finally. He looked like someone who would ride all around, but you never knew. Amber could get stereotypical like that, but was good about not voicing it.

Three Day Events. Both my parents were professional riders. He said and shrugged. Jumping is my Passion though. My main mount, Talking Treason, was just to good at Dressage to not train him in it. He said with a small smile. Watching King bounce over to the Thoroughbred and barking, more like a little yip.
You? Max asked watching King jump up and plant his paws on Thomas's head then slip down and falling over onto his side. Scrambling back onto his over sized paws.

She smiled, thinking how awesome it would've been if her dad had ridden just like her mom. "That must've been nice," she said, almost wistfully. She nodded in agreement then, about the jumping. Amber really liked that, dressage being a bit boring. She laughed softly about his horse being too good in dressage to not ride him in it. The girl had never come across a situation like that, but she figured someday she would.
"I event and ride pleasure, sometimes trail as well," she said with a shrug. Trail frustrated her quite easily, so it wasn't a frequent event for her and whichever horse she had chosen that day to goof around on. Pleasure was a nice relaxer to get out of the heat and pressure of eventing, and Amber was pretty good about it.

He's definitely a nice looking horse. He said with a smile scooping up the puppy and standing up. Well anyways, I should probably let you get back to your ride and get over to my horses. He said and flashed her another smile. See you around the Stables. He said and turned, setting the puppy down and breaking into a jog, King running just ahead of Max.
Hopefully Max would see her around the farm. He reached down unclasping the puppy's leash and speeding up, the puppy trailing at his heels as they made their way back toward Max's truck.

She smiled softly with a thanking nod. "Thanks," she said quietly. Amber definately believed it, but wanted to make sure nothing arrogant-like would get across to him. After all, if they were to be friends, tension was not welcome. "All right, yea, maybe we can ride sometime," she said casually. She didn't have feelings, but he seemed like a nice guy that could even help her with her riding. Amber grabbed a chunk of Thomas's now wild black mane and climbed up onto his back with a slight difficulty. She pulled his head up by the lead and clicked him into a trot. "See ya!" she called with a closing finality, and headed back to Three Crest.
