Lexie paced in her stall, the drugs they'd used to calm her down while moving her wearing off quickly. Her ears were pinned back, dark eyes un-trusting and angry. The wounds on her neck and face had started to heal though every now and then she somehow managed to rip part of the scabs off and it had to be cleaned and re-dressed which was not a fun job for anyone, at any time.
She snorted softly, pacing around her stall. Sticking her nose into the water bucket for a minute but emerged quickly without drinking. The mare was on a special diet since she wouldn't eat anything else, and what she was on would help her gain some weight, help calm her down, and help return her coat to it's former glory.
One a wonderful show mare, now a beaten hag. Only eight years old, she'd been to young to have her career ended after a simple fall. Sure the rider had been hurt but that was the risk you took.

The trainers boots hit the cement flooring as she entered the barn. Flip! The lights went on. Walking to the first stall she looked over the door and through the bars that were secured over the top of the door part. Looking into the stall she shook her head. This mare was a mess. A big uge mess. Lookingover the scabs on ehr body, Aly almost threw up just then and there. It was sickening on how people can treat their animals adn think it's just fine the way they are. Well, either they need a new set of eyes or there is something mentally wrong. Aly couldn't stand it. That was why she opened a rescue stable. To help the dangered horses.
Watching the mare snort softly and pace around her stall, thoughts swarmed in Aly's mind. Looking at allt he paperwork the Humane Society left about the mare, Aly found a few trick. Food. Running into her feed room, Aly prepaired the right food and vitamins. Turning around with the bucket, she emptied the grain into a bin in the mare stall. It was suppose to calm the mare down. Hopefully this way Aly would be able to get in the stall with the mare and maybe pet her, but she'd just have to see afterwards.

Lexie glanced at the human, pressing her skinny frame against the back of the stall her ears pinned back. Relaxing as the woman disappeared but back to her antsy state as she approached. Huddling against the back wall it would be hard to believe she was the same mare who had once flown over jumps as if she had wings, the same mare who was supposed to be the top mare of the year two years before.
Of course after the fall she was shut away from the world in a back pasture, beaten every now and then when her trainer tried to give her another change at jumping and she got confused after the long stretches of not being worked. Then finally he'd just abandoned her on a trail and left her their to die. She didn't trust people but she also didn't want to hurt them, knowing that only resulted in being hurt.

Aly watched the mare hunddle into her corner. "Easy girl.' Aly said as she unlatched the bars then the door. Ducking under the bumper ties, Aly entered the partially light stall and stood towards the front. "Easy now. I'm not going to urt ya.' Aly said as a carrot appeared in her hand. Aly just wanted to make friend with the horse. Aly took a step to wards the mare. Then halted, not trying to scare the mare just trying to get near her. Aly crouched down low to the ground. As she squated there close to the ground, Aly clicked ehr tongue. "Come on." she said once more. Aly had watched on a show that if you ever have a horse that was abused and that was scared of people that you were suppose to get smaller then the animal. That was the animal can see that they are bigger and you can't do much harm to them as they can to you. The only advantage Aly had was she was able to move quickly out of the stall if any danger was about to happen to her. Plus, she was able to stand up quickly. (No muse)

Matt aproched the stall, unaware his boss was inside. Singing quietly, if only he had his guitar. He had a halter and lead rope over his shoulder and he was going to try to get the mare out of the stall just to take a better look at her. He had some ideas to help her but he had yet to share them with Aly yet.
"Oh, how fast can I go, gotta catch that little, red Rodeo. She drove off with my heart, I gotta let her know. Need the girl in that little, red Rodeo. Texas plates, candy-apple red Rodeo." He sang softly, stopping at he noticed his boss, and the mare.
Ducking into the stall he knelt down beside Aly and laid a hand on her shoulder. You know, it's not a good idea to do this around a horse who's insanely nervous. Even if it's supposed to help, if she freaks I bet she can still move faster than you. He said and stood her up, keeping his hand on her elbow, watching Lexie. I'd hate to see such a pretty girl get hurt. He said softly.
Lexie stood as far away from the woman as she could, ears pinned her slender legs planted firmly on the bedding in the stall. She didn't understand what was going on but it still scared her. As the sound of Max's singing reached her ears they flicked up slightly though she didn't move from her spot. Trying to back away as he entered, more nervous around men than women anyways.

Aly watched the mare. "Easy now girl." Aly said as she stayed in place where she was. Taking once step closer to the mare she halted. That was as far as she was going to go today. The rest te mare would have to decide. Hearing some noise of a uman, she looked outside the stall, It was Max. And he was singing. Wow. Aly chuckled a tad to herself trying to keep in inside and not scare the mare. soon, she forgot about it and turned to the mare watching her reactions.
Aly turned to the hand on her shoulder. It was Max. Listening to what he said she grinned. " I know what I'm doing. Even if she can I can care for myself. I've done this before." Aly said getting a tad angry that he was helping her. She was the head trainer there and she was able to do it. Standing up with Max's help, Aly grinned. "Just let me have five more minutes with her." Aly said hoping Max would let her. "If I did get hurt I'd be fine. I've handled many things." Aly said as she grabbed his hand and made him let go of her.
Turning to the mare then back to Max Aly spoke two words. "Go now." Aly said pushing him out of the stall. Returning to the mare, she went back over to her spot she left off at before max came and knelt down again. Holding the carrot from her hand, she stuck it straight out for the mare. "Good girl. That's okay now. I won't hurt ya. Just gotta trust me." Aly stayed quiet and calm and very relaxed. She showed no signs of fear and kept still. "Good girl." Aly said watching the mare lick her lips. "That's it now." She said as well trying to boost the mare's confidence. She had been using the same tone in her voice, that way the mare wouldn't freak as easily. Aly stayed where she was, waiting for the mare to make a move.

Lexie threw up her head snorting and still huddling in the corner. There was to much going on for her to deal with. Baring her teeth she jumped out towards Alyce ears tucked back against her head firmly, hooves ringing against the wall as she kicked out. Having moved her neck so quickly had forced the longest scab open and a small trickle of blood started running down her neck.
Hey. I didn't say you didn't know what you were doing but I'd still hate to see such a pretty girl get hurt. Excuse me for being concerned about your safety. Max said and left the halter and lead deciding to go get Treason and take him out into the round pin, work on the stallions ground manners and watch him move around on his injured leg. Treason had seemed better but Max needed to reassure himself that his horse wasn't going to be off-and-on injured if he kept riding and competing on him.

Aly watched the mare strike out. Quickly jumping out of the way, the mare only scraped part of Aly's arm. Aly smiled a bit. That was okay. Aly didn't get hurt. Standing up outside the mare's stall Aly grimaced at the horse. She was crazy. "Whoa girl. Easy now." Aly decided to try it once more. Walking into the stall, she took two steps inside and knelt down on the ground. Holding out the carrot one last time, Aly waited. This time not speaking as much. "Easy girl. I'm not gonna urt ya." Aly spoke to the mare. Staying calm, relaxed and still, Aly waited for the mare to make another move.
Listening to what max said, Aly thought about it. He though she was pretty? Wow, He did have affection for people. Aly was shocked. She thught about it. She wanted him badly, yet she didn't know if he wanted her. That was the question. watching im leave ehr and the mare, Aly grinned. He was so hot. She really liked him. Did he like her?

Did I just make a mess of things? Max muttered to Treason as he led the stallion from his stall, all four legs bandaged just for extra protection. Treason bobbed his head hoping to earn a treat. Shutup. Max muttered softly rubbing his horses neck. After he worked the horse for a bit he'd go find Alyce and see if she wanted to go out and get some dinner with him later, hopefully he could explain his over-protectiveness then.
Stepping into the round pen he closed the gate and unclipped the stallions lead. Using it as a make-shift whip and sending the horse out to the rail. Watching him walk around him in circles. That's it boy. Lets just play nice. He said softly and asked the horse for a trot, sighing as Treason stepped out in a neat extended trot, framing up as if he were in the dressage ring.
Lexie didn't lash out again though she didn't get closer to the woman to inspect the treat. Huddling in the back of the stall her ears pinned, one side of her skinny ribs pressed against the back of the stall as if that could protect her. For the first time she wasn't being smacked for freaking out, but it didn't convince her that she was safe once again.

Aly watched the mare. "Easy girl. I told you I won't hurt you." This time, Aly took a step closer. Standing up all the way, Aly made her way over to the mare. Now just 3 feet away, Aly held the carrot out. "Good girl. That's it." Aly still showed now fear. She just showed calmness and confidence. Aly knew she was going to get this mare to settle down and be good partners with her. Aly still had yet to find that one special horse. That one horse that would do anything to protect her. Hopefully that would be Lexie. Aly wasn't dare to it the mare. Never ever. Expecially after what the history said on her paperwork from the HS. Aly could never do suc a thing to a horse. Expecially if it brought back memories. Aly never smacked a horse. Unless it was Emmy and she had to be smacked every now and then just as a small tad punishment. Lexie wouldn't be able to handle it. Aly kenw that for sure.

Lexie reached out snatching the carrot quickly and moving away from Aly. Eying the girl though her ears had come up a fraction. She sighed softly, already worn out since she was extremely weak from the recent past of starvation and beatings. She was weary of the girl and wouldn't allow herself to rest until she was gone. Happy about the treat but still unsure of the girl.
Max urged Treason on again watching as the stallion burst into a canter. The bay-dun horse had a magnificent stride, wonderful forward action, and he looked stunning when he was focusing, which he was. That's my boy. He said softly, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. Having forgotten about Alyce and the rescue mare for the time being.

"Good girl." Aly said to the mare. Making her way over closer, Aly held out another carrot. Now 2 feet from the mare, Aly reached her empty hand out and went to touch the mare. Gently, Aly placed her hand on the mares coat. Right by her withers. "Whoa." Aly said letting the mare take the carrot. Once the second carrot was all eaten up, Aly removed her hand that was on the mare and backed away. Now, Aly was gonig to leave the mare. Walking out from the stall, Aly closed the door beind her and latched the bottom. Then after that, she closed the bars on the top half and latched those. Now, she just stood there watching te mare for a while. She thought about Max. Wondering what he was doing, Aly took a seat in a plastic lawn chair outside the mares stall and read a magazine. her back was against the mares stall and she was facing away from the mare. Aly's ears were open and listening to the mare as she read te magazine. Hopefully she didn't scare the mare to much. Hopefully the mare would come over close to Aly and nibble on her hair or breathe on her or something. That was all Aly wanted.

a broken beauty
Lexie stood by the back of her stall resting a bit but never completely relaxing with the girl around. She dozed off for a few moments then woke up checking on the girl then allowing herself to doze off again. She'd been to nervous when the girl touched her to move, used to being hit or beaten the soft touch hadn't done anything to convince her she was safe.
Trea snorted and bucked as he cantered around Max. The boy standing with a smile on his face. Suddenly the Warmblood skidded to a stop and reared up his hulk hovering in the air, muscles rippling under his coat as he let out a ear piercing whinny that echoed over the grounds. Dropping back to the ground he allowed Max to clip the lead on his halter, deciding that was enough for the horse in one day.
The stallion turning as he heard an answering call from Lexie. Tugging on the lead and whinnying again ears pricked, listening for the answering call that came a few moments later.
So what? You can get a girlfriend faster than me? I'm telling you Treason that is just not fair. He muttered leading the horse towards the gate keeping a firm hold on his lead rope. The horse could jump out of the ring if he wanted to or he could just break free when the gate was opened and he'd done it before. The mare's answering call was probably enough to make him interested enough to do something stupid.
Lexie paced the back of her stall, ears pricked. She'd been so secluded from other horses but she didn't fear them like she did people. She craved being around them, the herd instinct. She'd been pastured with a few of the older retired mares though she'd been the only one to be taken out of the pasture to be ridden, or beaten, and the only to be abandoned.

Aly listened to the call of the stallion and mare. She just laughed. That had to of been Treason's call. Aly looked up to see Max and Tre walking by. She gave a small head nod and smiled. Just looked at Max gave her the excuss to smile. He was just so cute and hott. Extremely hot. "How'd the work out go?" she asked Max as he walked over with his stud. Aly stood up turning to look at Lexie then back to max, awaiting an answer. (There wasn't really anything to reply to..)

Fine. I'll give him another two days rest then ride him a bit and see how he feels. Max said and patted the horses neck. The horse prancing around as if he knew he was the horse being talked about. Coat gleaming from the careful care of Max's grooming. He nodded to the scrape on her arm. She get you? He asked giving a warning jerk on Treason's lead as the stallion attempted to get closer to the mare. The last thing anyone needed was Treason freaking the mare out and trying to get close enough to see if she was in heat.
Lexie stepped back as Max and Treason approaching. Watching the small group with her large brown eyes. Keeping her distance from the front of the stall.
ooc; yeah, low on muse, and not much to post for that moment. hehe. now at least there's a bit more to post to.

"That's good." Aly said smiling at the stallion then Max. Reaching out with er left hand, Aly gave the stud a scratch on his neck. Looking down at his legs she grinned. Kneeling down by his injured leg, she undid the leg wrap and ran her hand down. After she checked his leg out she went around taking all the leg wraps off. "It's a little warm and swollen. Put some icey hot on it. That should do the trick." Aly grinned smiling at Max then giving him all four leg wraps. "There ya go." Aly said laughnig as he took the leg wraps. Looking at her arm at the scrape she nodded. "Yea, it was my fault. " Aly giggled rubbing her arm as she did so. "What are you doing after this?"{/b] Aly asked wondering with curiousity. Maybe e'd ask er out or something. So they could talk about the horses. Or their relationship, that was.
Aly turning to look at Lexie. "Whoa girl, eay." Aly said walking to the stall door and looking inside before returning to Max and Tre. "She did really good. I touched ehr and she took two carrots from me. So it's a start." Aly smiled as she told him about what her and Lexie accomplished.

Thought about trying to join up with her after she gets some more meat on her bones? He asked taking the wraps and laying them out over Treason's back. He wouldn't point out he knew how to check the leg and what to do for it, there was no point. He'd been on horses since before he could talk, his parents holding him in front of them on their own horses. He'd been working in his parents barn since he was six and could be trusted around the high powered show horses they had boarded their and the ones they owned and trained.
I was actually thinking of going out to get something to eat, I have absolutely nothing at home but dog food. Interested in joining me? He asked, referring to her question about him and his plans for later.

[ize=1] " Yup." Aly smiled at him before looking to the mare. "She's gonig to be a nice little hrse but she's just got to participate with me. Know what I mean?" Aly said smiling at him then rubbing Tre's neck once again. "I can't do all the work, she's gonna have to try hard too." Aly listened to what he said about gonig out to get food. "Sure, we just sshould clean up here a bit before we go. Plus, I'm a mess." Aly giggled smiling as she looked to Max waiting for any sort of reply.

Naw you look fine. You always do. He said and flashed her a smile. I'm going to go take care of my boy, I'll let you know before I leave to go home and get a shower then I'll come back for you. He said and flashed her another quick smile before leading Treason to go take care of his leg and put the bandages up.
Lexie had finally gone to her feed bucket, hungry enough that she'd given up on waiting for Alyce to leave before eating. Digging into her food eagerly, appearing as a normal horse for a moment as she ate. Glancing up at her owner every few moments.
